The Usual Chaos
Like last time, the staff was very competent and helpful. The physician assistant drew a black line around the redness so we could track changes and prescribed an antibiotic. (He used a 1-use, medical grade felt tipped permanent marker. I took it home rather than having a perfectly good marker thrown away. I appreciate the need for medical safety, however, I can’t stand all the waste.) He also suggested an X-ray of Grant’s ankle because Grant had twisted it while I was gone to Gainesville. Probably nothing, but it was so sore, prudence was the right path.
The only hitch was that location did not have an X-ray technician there right then. We could go to the Daniel Street branch. Trundled over there. Again, good staff, quick service. We would hear with 24 hours of results.
Wednesday morning, we went to Orlando Wetlands, not having heard back about the X-ray. The redness and swelling were not worse, but not better. Perhaps it will take a couple more doses of the antibiotic before we see results. We continued to Cocoa Beach. Still no callback.
Finally, after several calls to the Ocoee site, one to the Daniel Street location, another couple to Ocoee, and finally a callback from Ocoee, the results are in: Grant’s ankle is perfectly fine. Now he just needs to get rid of whatever is causing the extra edema and redness. TBD
Update June 9th: Grant’s 2:00 appointment with Dr, Mehta about his poor circulation was miss-booked (?) so he didn’t see Dr, Winn until 3:00. Outcome was nothing specific, but with an appointment at a lymphedema clinic for evaluation and PT, whatever that is, on July 10th. I’d hope by then his swelling would be resolved, but I do want his general bad circulation to be looked into.
Bottom line: too tired to make dinner, we ate at the 4 Rivers Smokehouse in Winter Garden. I ate half of my “Spud Love”, a huge baked potato with pulled pork, sour cream, cheddar, and BBQ sauce. Feeling virtuous, I got an oatmeal Whoopi’s pie, which I also only ate half. Lunch tomorrow! Grant nudged with ribs, fried okra, and baked beans. All a little sweet, however, we enjoyed it.
