Welcome, 2025
Another year to pare down our belongings, either by not buying something or by moving things along. In another post, I’ll list our 1/week cleaning of drawers, shelves, or box.

01/03: 2 copper mule mugs. (Also 1 mini vase & 2 tea candle holders used as vases for hospice flowers, a Windermere Garden Club project.) All from Central Hope Thrift Shop. $6.66
01/06: Watercolor brush: #2 round, kolinsky sable, from Amazon. $29.82

02/23: 3 shelves to display my paintings, from Wayfair. $44.72

03/29: Grab bars for the shower and next to toilets, anti-slip mat for rug, plus shower mat returned, from Amazon and installed by Patten and Ryan. $99.88

07/25: Waterproof case for phone, the Container Store, $9.99 (also ones for Steph and Clara). Dry bag, from BK Adventures, $19.50.
09/06: Savanah Banana baseball cap at the game. $32
Out:
01/10: Handkerchiefs and socks to be donated.
03/25: 2 dozen plastic eggs, all in my stash, to neighbor Vanessa.
04/15: Boat cushion, trash
04/16: Shower-head filter, trash
04/27: Tankini top. It fits, but way too hard to get off with my sore shoulders, trash
04/27: Easter decorations, ceramic bunnies, fancy real eggs we didn’t make, other ceramic figurines, to be donated next February, in marked box and on Remember The Milk app.
05/04: My little stove and bottle for the alcohol I used on my 6-week bike trip in 2010, which had fallen into the box of pool toys. I wondered where it had gone since I was sure I wouldn’t have thrown it out. To Spaulding, via Mary since she had room in her suitcase and will be visiting him in a few weeks.
05/09: Large bottle of bubble soap, likely left from Clara, used by Bella and Remi, to little girls across the street.
05/11: Pet carrier, Styrofoam cooler, ice cream scoop, to Home Thrift Shop.
05/28: 2 big tents with their flies, our cots, and my little tent I took on my long bike ride, to Boy Scout Troop # , Ben Powell, leader
06/04: My last bag of sea beans, at Cocoa Beach.
06/10: Wooden card table, donated to Matthew’s Hope Chest
06/13: Broken ice maker for which we cannot get part. It was in garage for several years, without miraculous self-repair. To trash.
06/26: Light green 3/4 length sleeve T-shirt. Beloved, but with small hole in top seam. To trash. Lilac short sleeved shirt, thought I’d like for travel, no. To donate.
07/05: First ever marathon shirt from Miami, 01/19/06. Used as work shirt until holes got too big. To trash.
07/06: Solar light broken by yard men years ago, thought I’d figure a way to remount it. To trash. Also, pastel watercolors that I didn’t like. To trash.
07/23: Too small really nice aloha shirt I’d bought at a thrift store and hung in my closet for years. To friend Linda who will wear and enjoy it.
07/24: 3 cases of canning jars. To Lukas Nursery when Clara and I picked up my 25# box of peaches from the Georgia Peach Truck. Set on a cart by the tent, with signs I made: “Free. Take 1, Take Some, Take All.”
07/24: Fabric: piece I’d cut off too-wide, white polyester tablecloth, thrown into garbage. Cotton pillow covers, recycled into bag by Clara during a Camp Grammie event.
08/16: 2 Bliss projection lights (Christmas), 3 growlers, 2 cat scratching pads, 1 blouse, 5 New Year’s buffet brocade tablecloths, to Poverello House thrift store in Fort Lauderdale.
08/20: Black and white capris, too big and too worn, to trash.
08/28: Fins, bc vest, and assorted masks and snorkels to Steven in MPO at RSMAS.
09/09: Running bras without the elastic they need. To trash.
10/03: Halloween decorations, including jack-o’-lantern, 18” tree with little witches, and 2 mismatched glasses. To thrift store.
Near Misses:
06/30: Flamingo earrings given to me by neighbor. Cute but hurt my ears. Donated to Earring Sharing Tree at the Women’s Hospital. Fortunately there were no others hanging on it, so I didn’t have to take a pair.
10/02: Felco #2 clippers. Rather than buying new @$75, I ordered replacement bolts and nuts, $12 with free shipping from Felco. Back to the garden.
10/03: Halloween decorations seen online. Just say no.

08/17: Pool level filler to replace broken one. Amazon, $45
09/11: iPad for me. My old one ran out of storage (64g. New one has 256) Best Buy $687.93 including tax and $50 membership for a year of good deals.
