Glamour Purchase: New Roof
Our roofer had warned us all the scrapping and hammering would be loud, but I didn’t understand it would be relentless until the workers finished. I escaped to a Tree Board meeting, where we voted to buy the services of a company who will use LiDAR (3-D laser scanning) to inventory every tree in the Town of Windermere. I had suggested we do this, but previous inventories had been on foot and extremely expensive. Tonya, head of town maintenance, found a European company that wants to get a toehold in the US market and would give us such a deal. Well done! We can manually add information like year planted or any tributes for specific trees.
Gracie and I also took a trip to the vet’s where Dr. Charlie determined she does not have a chip, so no possibility of finding who previously owned her. He agreed she’s about 6 months old, but he couldn’t determine if she’s been spayed. He recommended against an expensive blood test, say time would tell. We made an appointment next week for shots, tests, and other ways to spend money. Free cat? Hah!
The workers were still banging away when I returned. I finally convinced them I spoke enough Spanish for me to determine they hoped to finish the whole job by 7:00 PM. Definitely time for Grant and me to decamp to the Crooked Can in Winter Garden and meet up with Steph and Kyle for beers and high calorie food.
We returned to the guys throwing trash in the dumpster and getting ready to leave. I just had time to grab cash for tips, and they were gone. Hardworking men.
Annie came out but is still skulking about. She hasn’t adjusted to Gracie eating her food after scarfing down her kitten food, and today just added to her snit. I figure hunger will eventually sort things out.
