Complicated

The sharp pain in my left shoulder is due to my shoulder capsule being inflamed rather than a rotator cuff tear, so that was good news. According to Kirsten, my physical therapist, this can be alleviated with stretching and exercise. She stretches; I exercise. At home, I have an app to follow which Kirsten can monitor and change remotely. Every time I use it I can send a report and get a virtual gold star.

This was problematic while cabin camping at Myakka River State Park this week because our Sprint phones have no bars in most of the park. I exercised at the cabin, then when I was near the concession stand’s WiF, I ran the app to get credit.

The previous Friday we went to a Toyota dealer to look at Tacoma pickups. I wanted to see if the extended cab rear seats would fit Clara. Not hardly. They are smaller than airplane jump seats for the flight attendants. So crew cab for us. There were 2 2018’s on the lot with some 2021 trickling in over the next few months. A computer chip shortage is shutting auto manufacturers. I liked a new silver one arriving in 10 days, but I also wanted to look at the Chevrolet Colorado.

Sunday, we drove 45 minutes to the Chevy dealer for my appointment to see the trucks I been sent information about. Between waiting for my salesman, getting shifted to a new guy who knew nothing, and finally being told by an assistant manager that they had no inventory and didn’t know when they were getting any, we wasted another 45 minutes. Grant was pissed. Plus we had to drive home.

Monday at Myakka, with bad cell service, I called Sebastian and said I wanted the silver Tacoma. It was sold. He sent me specs on 5 other trucks, some not coming until mid-June. I need one by mid-May. Two, one red, one black, were expected in a couple of weeks. I hemmed and hawed, drove back and forth from the concession stand to the cabin, then decided on the red one. Back to the concession stand, $500 deposit on a credit card, and it’s mine. If it comes in.

Toppers are running 8-10 weeks out, but I found one in Clearwater that should, probably, maybe, come in in about 4 weeks. $100 deposit to hold a topper for a truck I don’t even own. Cross fingers.

Now, if I can just get up the gumption to pay $3,000 for the birding scope, I’m set. If there are any available.
